Is it safe?

CBD itself has no psychoactive properties. Cannabinol or CBN, however, does have mild psychoactive effects since it is derived directly from THC, the high inducing compound in weed. However, its effects are mild and not as stimulating as THC itself.

CBD works against the psychoactive substance THC when taken together. You can rest assured that a CBD product will not get you high. If the product contains CBD and CBN, even then, the presence of Cannabinoid in the product or supplement will counter the psychoactive effects of THC. CBD and CBN themselves don’t show any major side effects regarding their usage. Side effects, if any, would depend on how they affect any other medication you might be taking at the same time.  Among known side effects, dry mouth is often noted. However, in the face of fighting against neurological or cancer-related problems, it’s not that significant of a side effect.

The only notable effect it may have would be on your liver’s ability to process other forms of medication like pressure medication.
