How to Fight the Fear of Getting Judged

It’s not something in our control. We see things and we start to form an opinion. All this happens subconsciously. Even educated and smart people who don’t want to have an opinion about anything, end up creating an image of things around even if they don’t accept it. We judge things and we deal with them accordingly.

It’s not exactly a bad thing, but many of us don’t like to be judged. We want people to only think good of us. You can deny that you don’t care about what other people think of you, but deep down you know that it does bother you. Some express this fear and some do not.

You judge others and others judge you, and it will keep happening. The only thing that needs to be changed is your attitude towards it. Above all, you at least should not be scared of it. Here I’ve discussed how you can fight the fear of getting judged.

Discourse Anonymously

If you don’t want people to judge you, there is no need to reveal your identity to them. You can keep to yourself in front of the people around you. However, everyone needs catharsis. When you have to share your problems or emotions, you can write about them. If you want an audience to read and relate, send the article to The Doe. They will publish your article and won’t reveal your identity. As an anonymous writer, you will get to convey your message, be completely honest, and avoid the fear of getting judged.

Only Share with Friends

You might instead start to feel worse if you open up to the wrong people. Remember that every person around you is not your friend. There are very few people who actually care about you. Others might just take entertainment out of your misery.

They will listen to you, but they don’t know you. They don’t understand what you have been through and what you are now. The little knowledge they have of you will be used to form a negative opinion. If you want to share everything openly, only talk to your closest friends.

What Matters is Your Opinion of Yourself

You should only care about what you think of yourself. If you like the way you are, it doesn’t matter what other people think of you. You live your life for yourself and you only have one life. Instead of looking at yourself from the eyes of other people, you should focus on what you want to be and if you are becoming that. You should be able to see yourself in the mirror and be proud of who you are.

Judgment is Unavoidable

You can go live in the mountains alone and don’t talk to or see anyone for years and people will still judge you. This is unavoidable no matter how nice you are. You have to build a personality that doesn’t care about what others are doing or thinking of you. You give the remote control of your life in their hands by valuing their opinion of you.
