You may have 10 brilliant ideas. The temptation is to pursue them all at the same time. The key to success is to do less.

Record your brilliant ideas in your journal for future use, but keep focusing on your top priorities and see them through to completion. By doing less, you will get more done. By maintaining laser focus on one project, you will position yourself for success.

Go with the Flow

Another of Sean Ogle’s suggestions for improving productivity is to find that focused mental state known as flow.

In this state, you are mentally focused on your task and doing your best work. You become so intensely focused that you do not even notice time passing.

The key to achieving this state is to block out all distractions and any temptations to allow your mind to wander. You should shut off your phone, your email and your Internet. It may take about 15 minutes to enter the flow state so you should fight off any temptations and resistance in order to get there. Set aside about two hours to work, and keep pushing through until you hit the sweet spot.

Perfection Is a Myth

You want your most important projects to be perfect before you bring them to the light of day. This is a real problem according to Lisa-Marie Cabrelli, another top business coach.

By seeking absolute perfection, you spend too much time developing your products and services. What seems only good enough for you is really quite excellent for most other people.
